MJF 3D printing.
Production, not toy prototypes.
Multi Jet Fusion is HP's technology for manufacturing nylon parts that are 100% solid, support-free and ready to use. We run three HP MJF 5200 printers in Madrid with public pricing and instant quoting — upload your STL and see for yourself.
What is Multi Jet Fusion?
MJF builds the part layer by layer inside a polyamide powder bed. On each 80-micron layer, thousands of nozzles deposit a fusing agent exactly where the part must be solid, and an infrared lamp melts that area uniformly. The result: parts with practically isotropic mechanical properties — equally strong in every direction, unlike FDM, which delaminates between layers.
Because the part is born surrounded by powder, that powder acts as a natural support: there are no support structures to design, print or tear off. Internal geometries, channels, pre-assembled mechanisms and thin walls come out of the machine exactly as designed.
Parts in PA12 nylon come out dense and watertight — suitable for liquids and compressed air with no post-processing — with excellent chemical resistance to oils, greases and hydrocarbons. That is why MJF competes with injection moulding for short production runs: same function, zero tooling cost.
- Tensile strength≈ 48 MPa
- Elastic modulus≈ 1,800 MPa
- Elongation at break≈ 20 %
- Layer thickness80 µm
- Typical tolerance± 0.3 mm
- Recommended minimum wall1 mm (0.5 mm possible)
Why MJF and not something else.
Near-total density and isotropy: the part withstands the same load no matter which direction you load it from. Truly functional, not decorative.
The powder holds the part during printing. Internal channels, printed-in-place hinges and geometries impossible with other technologies.
Suitable for liquids and pneumatics with no additional sealing. Chemical resistance to oils, greases and hydrocarbons.
The same machine prints a one-off prototype or a short production run with industrial repeatability between batches.

With MJF, the real cost of a part is not set by the material: it is set by the space it takes up in the build chamber and how well it packs alongside other parts (the nesting). With three machines of our own running around the clock, we fill the trays efficiently and that saving goes straight into your price — which is why we can publish our rate (0.30 €/cm³ base) instead of hiding it behind a “request a quote”.
Three machines also mean capacity and redundancy: your run does not wait for someone else's job to finish, and scheduled maintenance never stops your production. Typical production in 72 h for up to 25 units, plus 1-2 business days' shipping to mainland Spain — full lead times and pricing here.
MJF versus FDM, SLS and resin.
FDM is unbeatable on cost for a cosmetic prototype. But its parts delaminate between layers and need supports. If the part has to work — bear load, take a thread, snap into place — MJF plays in another league.
Sister technologies (both powder-bed). MJF fuses each complete layer in a single pass, with better dimensional repeatability and denser, watertight parts; SLS offers a wider range of exotic materials. For functional PA12, MJF is the modern choice.
Resin wins on fine detail and smooth cosmetic finish. But the parts are brittle and age under UV light. For real-world and outdoor use, MJF nylon lasts for years where resin cracks.
Torn between the two powder-bed technologies? We have the full comparison with a table in MJF vs SLS: which to choose.
